We specialize in offering independent mortgage advice covering those moving home, first-time buyers, remortgages, buy-to-let & life assurance.
Our company name S.O.E. is taken from the Special Operations Executive which was a British World War II organisation. It was officially formed on 22 July 1940 under Minister of Economic Warfare Hugh Dalton, from the amalgamation of three existing secret organisations. Its purpose was toconduct espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance in occupied Europe (and later, also in occupied Southeast Asia) against the Axis powers, and to aid local resistance movements.
The men & women of the S.O.E. were of the highest calibre. They were the most brave, heroic, principled & patriotic people who always believed in doing the right thing. Most of them were going to certain death, & knowing full well that if captured, they would face the most horrendous torture. Nonetheless, they still carried out their orders to the best of their ability under severe conditions that would break most of us.
The financial services industry has had a less than stellar reputation & when I set up this company I decided that we were going to be different. We were going to be of the highest integrity & put our clients first & always do the right thing for them. I have taken inspiration from those who served in the S.O.E. & we have endeavoured to adopt their principles & ideals to drive this company for the sole benefit of our clients.

Meet The Team
Simon Garling
Managing Director
I am married with two grown up children and live in the Cotswolds.
I have been in the industry since 1987 & started S.O.E. Consultants which morphed into S.O.E. Financial when Vikas joined me a few years ago. I like to go on a morning run most days through the beautiful Cotswold countryside with my border collie Sunny
Most weekends I can be found messing about with old cars, either with my head under the bonnet fixing things, preparing a car for a show or watching historic car racing and enjoying the occasional track day.
Vikas Jain
Director
Vikas lives in the Midlands with his wife and 3 young daughters. Having been qualified & working in the industry since 2004, he brings with him a breadth and depth of specialist mortgage and insurance knowledge. Vikas has spent 10 of those years with national corporate estate agents as their in house mortgage adviser. He joined S.O.E. Financial, in his own words, “because of their personal touch and straight speaking attitude,” something Vikas says is missing from financial services.
Outside of work Vikas is a charity football league player and if he isn’t spending time with his daughters he will be found honing his cooking skills as he is allegedly quite a cook!

Primarily a mortgage & protection adviser, I have been involved in financial services & the property sector for nearly 20 years. My experience in other fields such as teaching, IT & hospitality have given me a well rounded & systematic approach to different scenarios. All my clients will benefit from this diverse experience as part of the advice process which will help to create & maintain a long term business relationship. When not working I can be found down at the cricket pitch indulging my huge passion & enthusiasm for the game.

I live in South Wales, on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons (now renamed Bannau Brycheiniog) with my partner and granddaughter.
Having had a keen interest in property for many years and having experience of being a landlord for 10+ years, I wanted to help others to achieve their aspirations of property ownership, whether that be a first home, family move or an investment.
After relocating from Kent to Wales, I had the opportunity to develop my passion for property into a career and I qualified as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser.
I love spending my free time with my grandchildren, having outdoor adventures in the surrounding Welsh countryside or in the garden learning how to grow our own food. It seems that we are very good at growing rhubarb, visitors are not allowed to leave unless they take some!

Originally from the Wirral, I settled here in the Midlands after spending a few years travelling around the world. I live with my husband, son and our dog Poppy.
I’ve had a diverse career starting off in hospitality, then moving into the insurance sector as a trainer, & during this time, I studied and gained qualifications in bookkeeping/accounts and a teaching qualification which I used to gain employment in the adult education sector. Here I taught IT, Business and Accounts within the local communities before moving back to financial services as a quality assessor and qualifying as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser.Throughout my working career, I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and coaching others to achieve their full potential. My focus now is to use these skills and provide excellent customer service to ensure the whole mortgage process goes as smoothly as it possibly can, enabling my clients to achieve their property dreams.My free time is spent with my family and friends, walking our dog, and travelling as much as I possibly can both here in the UK and abroad
